DESIGNING YOUR HOME PAGE

This tutorial video shows you a step-by-step approach to designing a "layered homepage". You're probably raring to go and want to jump in to using the tools to build your page. But you'll get a much better result (and have much less rework) if you spend some time designing the page properly on paper first.

In terms of sites to look at to take inspiration from, I recommend the following:

• Marie Forleo - Big, bold design, layered "one page" home page. Single column on main pages. A bit too fancy for us in terms of video backgrounds, but a good site to take inspiration from.
• Chris Ducker - another example of a good, layered "one page" home page with big, bold, personality focused design.
• Videofruit - Bryan Harris's site has a good, layered home page and a focused single column blog.​
• Michael Hyatt has a great home page which appears the first time you visit (after that it's a bit more mundane!)
