GETTING MEDIA COVERAGE AND PR - TIPS FROM STEFAN DREW

One strategy that very few consultants and coaches use to win clients is to use media coverage and publicity - yet it can be highly effective.

Appearing on TV, radio or in the press can establish you as an expert in your field - and can lead to immediate contacts from potential clients.

I recently interviewed UK consultant Stefan Drew on how to get media coverage and publicity for your business. It's something Stefan does for his clients - and for his own consulting business.

In this interview Stefan talks about some of the strategies he uses to get valuable media coverage - and on how in one of his niches he's using this instead of more traditional email marketing.

You can listen to the interview below - it lasts about 48 minutes.

A few sites you might find useful when it comes to media coverage:

Media UK - lists media contacts (e.g. newspaper editors).

Expert Sources UK - a paid membership which lists you as an expert for journalists to contact.

Google Alerts - set up alerts for your name, your clients and competitors, and keywords for news items you may wish to comment on.

USNPL provides listing of US newspapers along with details of their editors and contact details.

Help a Reporter Out (HARO) is a free service created by Peter Shankman. It allows journalists to ask questions or request information/interviews and hooks them up with experts who can help. It's primarily US focused but as there are over 200 requests made a day from nearly 30,000 journalists using the service there are plenty international ones too.

Blogger Link Up is an equivalent service for hooking blog owners and writers of articles up provided by Cathy Stucker. You can offer articles for other bloggers to use - or wait for someone to request an article you could write.

If you've got any questions do ask them in the Momentum Club Forum or hit the message box on the right of the screen.
